Phishing

It is an attempt to trick you into revealing your banking details/password by redirecting you to a fake website. This can be via phishing emails or messages which have links to such fake websites that look just like the real ones. If you input your banking details, passwords, credit card numbers, PINs or OTPs into the fake websites, your information and money are at risk of being stolen.

Detect Signs

+ beware of suspicious website hyperlinks. They are designed to look like the real ones, with almost identical online address.
+ unsolicited sms/messages/emails with clickable hyperlinks that will redirect you to phishing sites.

How to stay safe

+ pay close attention to the website links before proceeding with your banking activities given that the web link will likely to quite identical.
+ type the bank’s official web address into your web browser or access your account via the official banking app.
+ avoid the use of public or open wifi networks for mobile banking.
+ do not click on sms hyperlinks coming from ‘banks’ as banks no longer send you hyperlinks via sms.
